Tereza Durova
People’s Artist of the Russian Federation,
Art Director of the Teatrium on Serpukhovka
Tereza Durova comes from the family of circus actors. She is the granddaughter of the famous clown and trainer Anatoliy Durov and the daughter of the famous trainer and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Tereza Durova. Tereza is the first member of the family who left the arena in the pride of youth and connected her life with the theatre.
In 1982 Tereza graduated from the department of directing of the Russian Academy for the Theatre Arts (GITIS). In 1991 together with a team of enthusiasts she organized the International Clownery Festival in Moscow. A year later on the basis of it she organized the theatre that is now better known as the Teatrium on Serpukhovka.
The Teatrium is unique because of its aesthetics that are at the intersection of several genres – drama, music, circus and calisthenics. Over the past twenty years Tereza Durova trained a great number of artists who have mastered universal acting skills.
Awards:
- In 2003 she got the title of a People’s Artist of the RF.
- In 2004 she was awarded with a Prize from the City of Moscow in the field of Literature and Art.
- In 2005 she was awarded with the «Olympia» Prize of the Public Recognition of Women’s Achievements in Russia Foundation.
- She was a laureate of the theatrical Prize of the «Moskovskiy Komsomolets» newspaper twice.
